You get strategic planning, vendor management, team leadership, budget oversight, and all the other responsibilities of an IT Director—just scaled to match your company's needs and budget.

How is this different from an MSP or IT consultant?

MSPs (Managed Service Providers) typically handle day-to-day technical support and infrastructure management. IT consultants usually focus on specific projects or implementations.

A fractional IT Director provides ongoing strategic leadership. I help you plan where your technology should go, develop your internal team, optimize your vendors (including your MSP), manage budgets, and make the big-picture decisions that consultants and MSPs don't typically handle.

How It Works

How do we get started?

We start with a free consultation call where I learn about your company, technology situation, and challenges. We'll discuss whether fractional IT leadership is the right fit and which service tier makes sense for your needs.

If we both agree it's a good match, we'll outline a 90-day initial plan, establish priorities, and get started. Most clients see meaningful improvements within the first month.

What does monthly engagement look like?

It depends on your tier, but typically includes:

  • Regular scheduled meetings (weekly or monthly depending on tier)
  • Ongoing email/Slack communication for quick questions
  • Documented strategic planning and recommendations
  • Project oversight and vendor management
  • Team development and 1-on-1s (Tier 2 and 3)

The specific mix of activities is tailored to your company's priorities and the service tier you select.

Do you work on-site or remotely?

I'm based in Charlotte, NC and most work is done remotely, which is how modern IT leadership typically operates. However:

  • Tier 1 clients: Primarily remote engagement
  • Tier 2 clients: Remote with optional quarterly on-site visits
  • Tier 3 clients: Quarterly visits included, or 1-2 days per week for Charlotte-area companies

Additional on-site days can be arranged for any tier at $1,500/day plus travel expenses.

What if I already have IT staff or an MSP?

Perfect! That's actually the ideal situation. I work alongside your existing IT resources to provide the strategic leadership and direction they need.

Your IT staff will get mentorship, clear priorities, and professional development. Your MSP will have a knowledgeable point of contact who speaks their language and holds them accountable for results.

I don't replace your technical resources—I make them significantly more effective.

Pricing & Contracts

What's the contract term?

I offer month-to-month agreements with a 90-day initial commitment. This gives us enough time to make real progress while keeping flexibility for both parties.

After the initial 90 days, engagement continues month-to-month with 30 days notice for changes or cancellation.

Can I change tiers?

Absolutely. Your needs may evolve—maybe you start with Strategic Advisor and realize you need more hands-on leadership, or you begin with Fractional IT Director and scale back once operations are stable.

We can adjust your tier with 30 days notice to match your changing needs.

Are there setup fees or hidden costs?

No setup fees. The monthly retainer covers everything outlined in your tier. The only additional costs would be:

  • On-site visits beyond your tier's allocation ($1,500/day + travel)
  • After-hours emergency support ($250/hour, 2-hour minimum)
  • Special projects scoped separately (optional)

Everything is transparent and discussed upfront.

Results & Expectations

How quickly will we see results?

Some improvements happen immediately—better vendor communication, clearer priorities, documented plans. Other outcomes like cost optimization or major infrastructure improvements take 3-6 months.

Most clients report feeling more confident in their technology decisions within the first month, with measurable operational improvements visible by month three.

What can I expect in the first 90 days?

Typical first 90 days include:
